Intense pulsed light (IPL), which is a more affordable option to correct facial scarring. Because intense pulse light treatments cost less than lasers for cosmetics corrections, they are often more affordable than lasers.

IPL facials are also possible and can be performed by estheticians. This is a significant cost-savings over laser treatments that are usually only done by doctors. You can also look for non-surgical, non-invasive skin tightening and body contouring.

Many medical journals have published studies on the effectiveness of IPL treatments to treat scarring. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology looked at how IPL could improve scarred skin. It found that IPL had a positive effect on small, raised, and inflamed scars.

IPL treatments can correct acne scarring. The next question is whether the skin will be able to retain the benefits of this type of phototherapy for the long term. This question was answered by a five-year-long investigation published in Dermatologic Surgery.

Eighty patients with different skin tones were treated with IPL to counter the signs of aging. Researchers took photographs of participants and measured their skin texture and hypopigmentation following IPL treatments. On average, the volunteers received three IPL treatments.

Eight years later, 83% of participants still saw a smoothening of their skin. 79% also noticed a reduction in hyperpigmentation.

Although IPL treatments are proven to be effective in reducing acne scarring, there are many things you need to think about before you decide to use them.

First, consider how many treatments you will need to achieve the desired results. Patients received only three IPL treatments to correct skin imperfections or skin discolorations in most cases.
